torrent subfolders 63694

Postby mjdmjd86 » Fri Sep 27, 2019 3:54 pm

I'd like to torrents without putting them in a subfolder inside of the directory
for example if the torrent contained multiple files and i only chose one of them FDM would still save it to a dedicated subfolder so I'd like to uncheck "create subfolder" option when adding a torrent like in some other torrent clients
sorry if my English was bad..

FDM just follows directory structure saved in torrent. Your suggestion is not safe. Every subfolder may contain files with the same names. If you change your mind or by mistake try to more files, the files you have already ed may be overwritten. You don't even need to do anything - to complete a file the program usually s pieces containing parts of three files, and all of them may have the same name.

Hello, unfortunately, what you are suggesting has a few technical issues if we try to realize it, as Usher mentioned above.

I like FDM, but this is the only thing that prevents me from fully switching to it as my torrent client.

This feature is currently ed by practically all most popular clients - uTorrent, qBitTorrent, transmission - you name it.

Implementation wise - naturally, part of it is responsibility, must understand that files with the same name will be overwritten.

For the WIP files that chooses to exclude from the , unlike FDM that puts them under ".unwanted", the other torrent clients put them under a randomly named location. This solves most of the problems with naming collisions.

Guys, seriously, this feature is super useful, everyone does it, I don't believe it is hard to implement. Please reconsider.

AFAIK, FDM uses some parts of qbittorrent lib, so it may be possible to add this feature if it's included in that lib.

However, I cannot see any use of that feature which makes it really important. You can easy move files with any file manager. Could you explain advantages of that feature, please?
