Restarting s from websites without RESTART ! 4j4y1
When having to RESTART a from a site which does not restarts, it is always a hassle to lookup the original Website (URL) again, as only the URL actually is stored in FDM.
Please make provision to also include the actual Original URL of the page that initiated the .
Orbiter is using it and it is quite effective as a reference!
This Original URL can then also be used for FDM to actually RESTART the from scratch in this case, too.
- Please somehow integrate that into the RESTART (Shift+R) function, to then automatically use that, by going to access the required from the Original Page.
THANK YOU !!

Over 169 people read this message, but not a single REPLY !!
That is strange !!
Does nobody else actually need this feature?
- Even Firefox has this feature "Go To Page" built-in !
However it is exactly this , that I want to OFFLOAD the TASKS from the browser, that I am using FDM !
326 Views, until today (2014-08-07) and NO COMMENTS ?

I would love to see this fixed.. I am trying to the US Census data from Census.Gov and that server does not start resumed files. I am currently living in Viet Nam and the internet can be flaky for minutes at a time and drops several times a day.
My current "solution" is to let FDM continue with other files, then force restart on the laggards.
Somewhat annoying.

I suspect this feature will NOT be implemented in FDM 3.x as it requires to change FDM service (database) files structure. It may be implemented in FDM 5.x if developers decide to change database management.
Note however that in most cases such feature won't work automatically - it may only reopen original URL in your web browser and you must manually do all things needed to get a new temporary link.

It's not the same case as it's described in the first posting. In your case you should first try to change your FDM settings - limit number of connections, increase number of retries, allow to retry with no resume , etc.RobertC wrote:I would love to see this fixed..
