Hi Alex. I really appreciate the work you have put into FDM. It is a great program.

I do have one question; have you considered implementing the Windows 7 taskbar icon progress-bar feature?

TAZ-NZ (in the topic Window 7 intergated progress bar Taskbar Icon) wrote:It would be nice if FDM taskbar icon could be updated to have the intergrated progress bar in Windows 7 like the Explorer and Internet Explorer icons do.

I think it would be a nice addition.

Thanks again for FDM.

Is there a bug for memory leaks? Every time i vast amounts of data using fdm my memory usage increases to the top.

Last night i ed around 30GB of data, and the memory usage is at 6gb/8gb currently of idling the whole night ing. It has always happened every time i too much data, even on vista 32bit, and 7 32bit, im currently on 7 64bit.

Is it because of the cache s to disk option? It doesnt matter what i use it still consumes all the memory, right now is at 25mb for the cache.

Any insights?

Thanks

Microsoft has changed memory management in Windows starting from Vista. In Vista and Win7 system prefers to use all available memory and really quickly release it for new tasks.

FDM uses more memory if you many torrents or small files and don't limit history/logs.

Heheh we don't even have progress bars / time graphs for all / single s in the interface. I think a taskbar progress bar comes after that (after a 'total' bar in the interface at least). But that won't likely to happen; progress bar(s) were already suggested by me a few years ago.

Bugs (unicode related):
1. when browsing to save in a UTF encoded local folder, its name appears as '???'.
2. when entering these folder names manually (instead of '???'), and pressing ok, error message appears: "Name of the folder should not contain any of : * ? " < > | symbols. Please enter another name."
3. when trying to a file with escaped UTF characters, like "%D7%98%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%99%20%D7%A4%D7%95%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%99%D7%94.pdf", getting ANSI text "טורי פורייה.pdf" instead of the correct UTF "טורי פורייה.pdf".
4. when entering the file name manually, you get the same message as in 2.

FDM comes with plugin for Firefox/Opera/Chrome but you should turn it on in FDM settings when the browser is closed. You can search for more info in older topics posted to this forum.

You should also know that Opera still changes its code and FDM may not the latest Opera changes. In general, if FDM's plugin does NOT work with Opera, you can use oGet add-on for Opera.

Could the option be added to use multiple network interfaces on my computer. For example, I am connected to a T1 via 10/100 E-net but also have WiFi and a cell phone data connection on my PC. I would like to be able to instruct FDM to use any one or a group of these Internet connections.

I think you should better use more specialised software for traffic management: firewall, router, traffic shaper etc.
