IMO, Free Manager sounds decent enough for a free manager.

Mr. E

I have a name. 1c1k38

When I looked at the post above me,
and saw the name "FreeDM" the first word that popped in my head was "Freedom".
Maybe it should be called "FreeDoM" or "FreeDoM of Choice".
What do all of you think?

Oops, I didn't read any of the previous posts before I posted,
accept for the one above my first post.
I didn't know someone already mentioned the title "Freedom".
Well, what do you think of "FreeDoM of Choice"?

A rose is still a rose by any other name.

To me, a name more functional then catchy may indicate more emphasis on engineering then marketing. Hence, I find appeal in a more functional name. Yet, I recognize the attraction of a short, easy to name.

So, if a name change is in the works, my primary suggestion for a new name is:
FireDown

An alternate suggestion, is:
BeamDown

GetDown... got a ring to it. 5b2d6b

FreeDoM is good... even FreeDown works.... but FreeDoM is a common word, which is good for recognition - but - bad for domain name registration (do a whois, i think theres nothing even remotely close left.). Perhaps something a little different is needed.

SlideDown... GetDown... a nice play on words could be good.

I like FreeDoM to be first choice & keeping the existing Free Manager (FDM) as the next choice.

Absolutely agree. FreeDoM sounds great, and retains links with the previous name.

Why to change the name? yx3o

Postby Norman » Tue Nov 23, 2004 1:08 am

Are you trying to get rid of "free" in the name because the next version is going to be a shareware, like a lot of other dl manager changed to before?
