The link at the beginning of this post is still for 3.5 RC Build 930 ... not 3.5 RC Build 530 that was updated September 8th...

Correct me if i am wrong...

Also... FDM crashes IE8 when i try to view a directly from my browser... I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro with the latest updates installed.
Example: [url]http://www.procaresoftware.com/pdfs/KES%20Install-Wiring.pdf[url]

Thanks!

The build is really 930, as you say, and it is the correct one. The only error is in the posted sentence: Updated. Build 530. (Sep 8, 2010). It shoul read Updated. Build 930. (Sep 8, 2010) instead.

As to the IE8 crash with PDF files, I was having it too, and I use Foxit, instead of Adobe. However, for some mysterious reason, it stopped happening. The only change I made in IE8 was an update to Adobe's Flash Player (now it is version 10.1.82.76) which I don't think has anything to do with this problem.

In this last FDM version, if you stop the browser monitoring, the FDM IE8 add-on is removed, not just disabled as before. The add-on will be reinstated if the browser monitoring is enabled again.

So, if the PDF problem persists in IE8 you have two workarounds: (1) disable FDM's browser monitoring; or (2) right-click the PDF file in IE8 and choose save target as.

There are still problems with section management.

Here's a very common issue:
1. Set the maximum sections per server to 10.
2. 5x1gb files from the same server.

FDM will start ing 3-4 of the 5 files and assign more than 10 sections to them (anything from 10-12) which is a minor bug. The real problem is, once the first file finishes, the newly freed sections are now assigned to the next file in the queue instead of asg it to an active on the same server.

This causes cases where the file '3 of 5' will remain with only 1 section while file '4 of 5' will get 9 sections. Even when all other files have finished ing, the file ing with 1 section will remain at one section and the total time will take much longer.

The side affect of this beyond the longer times is that files do not finish ing in order of priority.

Hi guys!

I am new here and I don't know if FDM 3.5 RC is compatible with Chrome 6. I like FDM and I want it to be compatible with Chrome. :) Thanks in advanced.

Another small bug report:
When pasting multiple links from the clipboard using Ctrl+Shift+V, sometimes queued files switch to the stop mode (all files were being ed from the same server).

I believe it's a race condition issue.

Should say, I'm very glad to see that this project still on.

I'm using Opera. And I do not like s recapture.
So I've made such option in Opera's menu:

Code: Select all

Item, " with FDM"=Execute program,"C:\Program Files\Opera\program\FDM\fdm.exe","%l"

So when FDM is not running, this menu works perfect, but only for first link.
The second one opens the main window and window.
The third with Opera's menu option only opens main FDM window.

FDM 3.5 Release Candidate 36h10

beelzebub360 » Sat Sep 18, 2010 9:51 am

I am asking for a very concrete solution.
Please port the Free manager to Linux.

There have been some people requesting a good manager.

It is a really great tool, which I have used during my
windows time, and I still use it for huge s.
(One of two things preventing me from wiping my NTFS partition)

FDM is available under GPL and it is coded in C++

It s
Multi Part ing
ing from video sites
Pause and Resume s
Detecting Mirrors
Manager
Resuming of broken s and Checksums
Scheduling
Torrents
Partial ing of zip archives
And much more

& having it .deb & .rmp machines would be great !!!!

So
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
port it to linux with all the Featurs of windows !!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't repeat it again. So I think it was temporary outer bug (not in FDM).

Waiting for final.

FDM 3.5 Release Candidate and Chrome 6 Portable 6fa4w

Well I'm also new (here on FDM) as well. I have found FDM and I'm using it -
what a great piece of software!! Nice job!!
Anyway - my question is very similar to the above.
I also use Chrome (Portable Version - no registry installs with version = 6.0.472.59).
This version of Chrome is super fast and the best browser I've ever used.
Anyway - Can I use FDM (RC version?) with Chrome - and in particular Chrome Portable ?
I'm using latest "released" version of FDM = ver. 3.0 build 852 and it's rock solid.
FDM works with IE and Maxthon - (which I now hate compared to my latest usage of Chrome!)
but doesn't appear to be integrated with Chrome. Will FDM 3.5 RC work with Chrome 6.0.472.59
portable?

FDM would be awesome if it ed Chrome - extension, plug-in, or stand-alone program wouldn't matter to me.
Thanks in advance - John 8)

@Llanziel + jrchester,

FDM 3.5RC does Google Chrome 6.0.472.62. However, it has to be the normal version, not the portable version. This limitation is not just for FDM since Chrome Portable itself is unable to update from within: the update function in the About menu option does not work for the portable version (unlike Firefox portable).

I used the portable Chrome version for a while, but always had to use the drop box to files. In cases this would not work, I switched to Internet Explorer 8 to get the .

So I finally decided to do a normal installation of Chrome and now I can enjoy normal FDM s. It works perfectly. Except... for certain types of files, for instance, PDF and other non-standard types. In such cases, the Chrome takes over and I usually cancel it and use the drop box. But this happens only rarely.

Hi,
In the changelog you say:
"[+] Automatic detection of UTF-8 encoded names of files"

I tried to a file with the german umlaut "ü" (e.g.: bündig.txt) encoded with UTF-8 as "#c3#bc".
FDM started to the file but the file that was created on my HD hasn't a "ü" in it, it was called "bündig.txt".

Am I doing something wrong?

for opera 10.50 and above, you should use this.

Code: Select all

Item, With FDM = Copy link, -2, "urlinfo" & Execute program,"F:\Program Files\Free Manager\FDM.exe" ……%c……
